Isla Center for the Arts
Velma Yamashita is a member of University of Guam's Fine Arts Faculty and specializes in the areas
of art history, non-western art, and gallery management. She started as Isla Center's
Program Coordinator from 1990-95 and has been serving as the Director for four years.
She is now writing her dissertation to complete her PhD. in Art History from University
of Washington.
Gi Young Hwang graduated from University of Guam with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts/Art. She in an art organization AAGM (Art Association of Guam and Micronesia) and has exhibited in the 2006 AAGM Art Show, 2007 Human Rights Watch Exhibit and 2007 Isla Silent Art Auction. Her interests in arts include mostly two-dimensional artworks of Drawing, Watercolor, and Photography.
